ASM program teaching how the integrate MSE into their lesson plans

WHO: Science/Math/Technology/Industrial Arts High School & Middle School Teachers

WHAT: To attend a one-week summer program, ASM Materials CampSM-Teachers

WHEN: July 17-21, 2006

WHERE: University of Michigan-Ann Arbor

WHY: To “EXCITE YOUNG PEOPLE” in math & science. We will show you how to use low cost / no cost, simple labs and experiments using everyday materials, that can be integrated into your existing lesson plans to actively engage students in applied science.

ROOM AND MEALS: Lunches and snacks will be provided; single occupancy housing (local hotel) will be provided for out-of-town participants.

TRANSPORTATION: Participants must provide own transportation.

APPLICATIONS: Available through ASM Materials Education Foundation website: www.asminternational.org/foundation.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: May 15, 2006

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS: Four (4) “Continuing Education Unit” (CEU) credits will be provided.

GRADUATE CREDITS: Two (2) semester credits available through the University of Washington (Seattle). Note: Registration of less than $200 is required to get these credits. Last year’s registration was $163. Most likely, it will be the same this year.

FACULTY: Primary faculty are two experienced high school “Master Teachers” who have taught materials science courses for many years and helped develop this innovative approach to hands-on learning of applied science principles.
