Rapid Characterization of Fatigue Behavior in Cast Structural Material by Ultrasonic Fatigue

Materials: Metals
Application: Structural
Technique: Characterization

Fatigue resistance is one of the most important design requirements of cast aluminum blocks and heads for automotive engines. The purpose of this project is to provide a critical assessment of the applicability of state-of-the-art ultrasonic fatigue techniques for the rapid and cost effective development of comprehensive fatigue databases for fatigue life prediction in cast structural aluminum and magnesium alloys.
