Project: Creep Resistant YAG Oxide Fibers

The image here is an Scanning Electron Micrograph (SEM) taken by Min Kim of YAG fibers that have been produced by extrusion. Just as a cook extrudes pasta out of his machine to make spaghetti, we make fiber precursor by using a high pressure extrusion machine. These fibers are then dried and finally cooked or sintered in air at 1450 C.
