Victor ChanEmail: vicchan@umich.eduRoom: 2029 HH Dow Advisor: Katsuyo Thornton B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, 5/2008 My research involves using topological concepts to analyze microstructures of materials. The information obtained, such as connectivity and number of voids, can be related back to material properties. This will allow us to quantitatively tailor material properties by manipulating the microstructure. My other project involves using the phase field crystal method to investigate the mechanisms and energetics of freezing. I am currently looking at the solidification of copper. |
