Univ. of Sci. & Tech.

Jiashi’s research focuses on the ultrasonic fatigue behaviors of the polycrystal nickel-base superalloy (Rene’s 88 DT) at elevated temperature. His work includes: quantitative microstructure and fractography characterization, correlation between microstructure features and fatigue crack initiation and propagation, high temperature ultrasonic fatigue test and statistics aspects of ultrasonic fatigue behaviors. The ...more>>

Dr. Suzuki's research is on the microstructure and high temperature mechanical properties of magnesium alloys, especially in Mg-Al-Ca based alloy systems. The Mg-Al-Ca based alloys are promising as high creep-resistant structural materials for powertrain components of automobiles, but fundamental research has been needed for further alloy improvement. She is investigating ...more>>

Chris is studying the role of microstructural variability on the fatigue lifetime variability of Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo, which is used in aerospace turbine applications engines. The fatigue behavior of this alloy is being characterized using ultrasonic fatigue instrumentation that operates at frequencies of 20 kHz. The microstructure of this material has been ...more>>
