The University of Michigan Department of Materials Science and Engineering, College of Engineering, has openings for both tenured and tenure-track faculty positions. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree, be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Materials Science and Engineering, and are expected to develop independent and cooperative research programs. A demonstrated research record or potential is required. The preferred areas of expertise include materials for energy conversion and storage as well as photonic and phononic materials, although outstanding candidates are welcomed in all areas. We seek candidates who will provide inspiration and leadership in research and contribute actively to teaching, and are especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
